Chaos to coherence
The Rosenthal Library is the intellectual heart of Queens College. It has grown through renovation and shifts in space requirements. The library’s wayshowing sign system – intended to identify, inform, direct, restrict and permit – did not conform to these changes. I created monolith orientation directories with a library map, regulatory information panels, a self-navigation handout, locator signs, and identifying elements (pictographs) to address the users’ needs when first entering the library so they could make informed choices in more remote parts of the building and follow regulations.
